A trek to Rayakottai hills is blissful because, it is less crowded. Since, this hill is in Tamil Nadu, most of the trek organisers in Bangalore don’t want to pay the TN road tax for a one day trek. Because of that, you don’t see crazy crowd in this hike. So, it is really a great place to visit with a smaller group of friends.
During monsoon, this place gets covered with lush green bushes. You will get to see nice shades of green along the path. At the same time, in summer, all the surroundings will become really dry. Even then, there are few tiny and hidden waterbodies on the hill which perennially has some water.
From the summit of the hill you get nice panoramic views. Due to this vantage point, Tipu Sultan had built this strategic fort on this hill. On top you can also see old british buildings which used to serve as barracks. There is also a dilapidated parish hall.
